Cape Verde and the European Union signed a new fisheries agreement

Brussels, Belgium Jul 29 - Cape Verde and the EU signed Wednesday in Brussels, a new fisheries agreement three years becomes effective on September 1 next following the expiration of an agreement between the two parties in late August 2011.

The European boats can capture a share of five thousand tons of fish per year in the territorial waters of Cape Verde and the European Union will pay an annual compensation of 435 thousand euros to Cape Verde, against EUR 385 000 under the previous protocol.

The European Union also granted 110,000 euros to the state of Cape Verde to support the fisheries policy.
