Solférias sells out Carnaval packages to Cape Verde
Portuguese travel agency Solférias has sold out all of its vacation packages for the Carnaval season in Cape Verde. The company will bring more than 400 Portuguese tourists for the Mardi Gras festivities on the islands of Sal, Boa Vista and São Vicente on flights operated by TAP, TACV and a charter airline.
This year, Solférias offered fewer Carnaval holiday packages than last year, in part in order to prevent the operation of flights with empty seats, but also, and above all, because “it is increasingly difficult to book hotel rooms” in Cape Verde, despite the major increase in the country’s hotel capacity over the past year – the result of the growing demand for the country as a vacation destination for tourists from other European markets.
Solférias, according to PressTUR, transported some 27,600 passengers to Cape Verde in 2011.
During this time of year, demand on the part of tourists normally drops, but according to PressTUR there are no signs that the aggravation of the current Portuguese economic crisis has led to a decrease in the number of tourists making their way to Cape Verde in relation to the same period last year.
