First international flight from Portugal’s new airport in Beja to fly to Cape Verde

Lisbon, Portugal, 11 Feb – The first international flight from Beja airport in Portugal is expected to take place on 14 April, headed for Fogo Island in Cape Verde, said the Mayor of Ferreira do Alentejo, where the airport is located.

"We are making every effort for the inaugural flight to be on 14 April and the return on 21 April,” said Mayor Aníbal Costa, noting that the flights "already have special authorisation,” from the National Civil Aviation Institute (INAC) and would be carried out, “regardless of the prior inauguration of Beja airport."

The passengers will travel in a TACV - Cabo Verde Airlines Boeing 757-200ER aircraft, between the airports of Beja and Praia (Santiago Island), where they will transfer to a regional transport aircraft that will take them to São Filipe Aerodrome (Fogo Island). The same will happen on the return leg.
