Cape Verde and European Union discuss special partnership

Praia, Cape Verde, 7 April – Cape Verde’s prime minister, José Maria Neves, is due to travel to Brussels on 13 April to analyse the development of the Special Partnership with the European Union, officials said in Praia Tuesday.

At the end of the meeting of the Local Supervision Group, the executive secretary of the Special Partnership between Cape Verde and the European Union, Eduardo Silva, said that the schedule for the visit had yet to be concluded, but noted that the high point would be a meeting with the President of the European Commission, José Manuel DurãoBarroso.

Silva also said that the meeting was a follow up to the process of bilateral dialogue set up by the Special Partnership, whilst also analysing other issues on the national and international agenda.

The Local Supervision Group is one of the mechanisms set up by Cape Verde and the European Union to supervise the process of execution of the Special Partnership and meets twice a year.
