Mayor of New Bedford organization praises Hello Cape Verde 2011

The mayor of New Bedford, Scott W. Lang, praised, on Thursday, the work of the organizing committee of the Cape Verde Hello Expo 2011 event scheduled for this week-end, call on the Whaling City, the cradle of Cape Verdean immigration in the United States.

According to the South Coast Today newspaper, the Fairfield Inn hotel with 106 rooms, providing an occupancy of between 80% to 90% during the Expo.

More than 50 companies and services, including banks and real estate in the archipelago will be represented at the Fair that will be staged at the State Pier (Port), in downtown New Bedford.

The initiative started from the businessman Tony Snow, owner of Neves Travel, mobilized from the outset, support of organizations such as the Cape Verde Embassy in Washington, the Consulate in Boston, several municipalities, the Cape Verde Investments, the Office of Communities as well as the greater New Bedford, Scott W.Lang.

Besides entertainment with concerts by artists of international caliber, the Fair has scheduled workshops on the history of Cape Verde investment opportunities and tourism.

It is known, for example, that the Cape Verdean singer, Lura, will be the headliner of the gala closing of the fair. Joe Delgado, Rosa GM, Iman Dias, Candida Rose Djedje and other artists are aligned for the three day event.

The exhibition program kicks off on Friday, 27 with the hoisting of the flag of Cape Verde at the seat of local government (City Hall) and the interpretation of the national anthem by singer Candida Rose.

Guests will meet later in the Whale Museum (Whaling Museum) for opening speeches and a cultural program. Several personalities, including the Ambassador of Cape Verde in the United States, Fatima Veiga, the Consul General in Boston, Pedro Graciano de Carvalho, among others will attend.

Participants then will move to the state pier where the team exposure. In the stand should be show products, services and culture of Cape Verdeans.

The program includes tours of the ship still Ernestina and downtown City of New Bedford.
