Cape Verde government wants to privatize the company Electra this year
Praia, Cape Verde, 18 April - The Prime Minister of Cape Verde said the government which he chairs will take steps to have the case of the privatized Electra - Water and Electricity Company completed by the end of the year.
José Maria Neves, who promised during the election campaign to privatize the national company of producing and distributing water and electricity, did not specify what measures to be taken by his government.
Anthony Strong, president of the company, said last week that the state has to pay 6.3 million euros, but assumed that the debts amounted to 15.4 million.
During the election campaign, Neves said that the Electra would be split into two companies, one in the south and one in the north, initially, but the goal is that each island has its firm water, sanitation and electricity
