IMF predicts that Mozambique and Cape Verde will grow in 2011 and 2012

Brussels, Belgium, 15 April - Mozambique will have an above average performance in the region, with the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growing 7.5 percent in 2011 and 7.8 percent in 2012, according to the latest forecast of the Fund International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The projections for Cape Verde, whose economy has recovered since last year's slowdown in 2009 suffered as a result of the global crisis, show a sharp acceleration in 2012 with a growth of 6.8 per cent, the forecast for this year of 5 5 percent, similar to the 2010 level.

For the other two Portuguese-speaking African countries, the IMF predicts growth of their economies below average for the region this year.
