Cape Verdean airline begins flying to Madrid, Spain

Praia, Cape Verde, 13 Jul – Cape Verde’s TACV airline began on Monday a regular weekly flight to Madrid, meant to “attract Spanish tourists to the island country,” said the company’s director, Georgina Melo.

The Monday flights link Madrid to Boavista and Sal islands, where the Riu Hotels network is established.

The airline’s aim is to attract young couples to Cape Verde, while also serving Cape Verdean residents in Spain, Melo said.

“This flight opens the possibility for Cape Verdeans and tourists to fly directly from Madrid to Cape Verde without having to use the traditional route via Portugal,” she added.

Prospects for the new flight are good, she said, specifying that the first presentation flight on 5 July counted 94 tourists from Spain.
