Portuguese-Cape Verdean consortium prepares energy project for Fogo island
Praia, Cape Verde, 12 April – The Alentejo Regional Development Agency (ADRAL), a Portuguese-Cape Verdean consortium, in partnership with the Ferreira do Alentejo and the Open Renewables company have prepared a project for micro solar and wind power generation for the island of Fogo.
The deadline for carrying out the work will be 48 months, starting in January 2011, and total estimated investment for installing the renewable energy sources is around 2.5 million euros.
The initial plan was submitted in February to the European union (EU), but the final document for approval is only due to be presented to the EU in July.
The project, known as “Sunnyfire”, aims to “contribute to the development of the territory by installing micro solar and wind generation systems on Fogo island.”
