French Development Agency project will finance water supply and sanitation in Cape Verde

Loomed, Cape Verde, 6 May - The French Development Agency (AFD) will co-finance the project of water supply and sanitation in the municipality of Santa Catarina, on the island of Santiago, said in Assomada the mayor Francisco Tavares according to Cape Verdean news agency Inforpress.

Following a visit to the French city of Amiens, with whom St. Catherine is twinned, Francisco Tavares said to have been agreed that the project will also include the funding of that French city as well as the European Union.

According to the mayor, it was also decided that the project will be implemented over the next three years, and the implementation program be approved on June 23 at a meeting to take place in Cape Verde. Urbanization was another subject discussed during the mission held the last week of April, and Tavares announced the arrival of a technical mission of the Urban Agency of Amiens, which will set up a cooperation project for the next three years. "

The project includes also technical assistance to the municipality of Santa Catarina, in the next three years, and the establishment of two laboratories: one for monitoring the quality of water and one for testing and maintenance of water containers.
